The first myth is a common one. When I first set foot in my box, I was immediately intimidated when I saw my boxmates. They were so fit and their bodies were so ripped, and it got me thinking, “What am I even doing here?” There was no chance I could compete with them.

But then again, I realized the workouts were completely scalable. CrossFit is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, and as you progress, you can also turn into that “hardcore athlete” that you say. Everyone has to start somewhere, right?

2. IT’S A SCARY CULT

Yes, CrossFit has a huge fan base, and to outsiders, this may come across quite “cultish” and scary, but truth be told CrossFit is a welcoming community of supportive people, all passionate about health, fitness and challenging oneself. Any uncertainty is sure to disappear by the end of a tough workout when you’re struggling and have your coaches, and a class of 14 people cheering you on.
